political controversy has erupted in Uttar Pradesh after state minister and BJP leader Om Prakash Rajbhar claimed that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav could step down as party president and that several SP leaders were in contact with the BJP.
Rajbhar made the remarks while speaking to reporters, alleging that internal discontent was growing within the Samajwadi Party following its recent political setbacks.
BJP Minister Makes Big Claim
According to Rajbhar, a section of Samajwadi Party leaders is unhappy with the party’s current direction and leadership.
He claimed that some SP functionaries and leaders were maintaining contact with the BJP and suggested that significant political developments could unfold in the coming months.
Rajbhar further alleged that Akhilesh Yadav may eventually relinquish the post of party president, though he did not provide any evidence to support the claim.
SP Yet To Respond
The Samajwadi Party had not immediately issued an official response to the minister’s remarks.
There has also been no indication from Akhilesh Yadav or senior SP leaders that any change in the party’s leadership structure is under consideration.
Political observers noted that similar claims have surfaced periodically in Uttar Pradesh politics, particularly ahead of key elections and organisational reshuffles.
Political Temperatures Rise In UP
The comments come amid an intensifying political battle between the BJP and the opposition in Uttar Pradesh, where both sides are preparing strategies for upcoming electoral contests.
While the BJP has sought to project confidence about its political position in the state, opposition parties have accused ruling party leaders of attempting to create confusion through speculative statements.
Whether Rajbhar’s claims signal actual political developments or are part of broader political messaging remains to be seen, but the remarks have already sparked debate in Uttar Pradesh’s political circles.
