After moving to Thailand, an Indian couple says the biggest change wasn’t money or luxury but the little things they never realised they were missing every day

An Indian couple who moved to Thailand has shared why they feel their everyday life has become more peaceful and balanced. According to them, the decision was not about leaving India behind, but about choosing a lifestyle that gives them more time and less stress.
Shreya and Amit said they still consider India home. But after spending time in Thailand, they realised that their day-to-day life felt better in many ways, despite giving up some conveniences they were used to.
They Found A Different Pace Of Life
Sharing their thoughts on Instagram, the couple explained that their rent in Thailand is almost the same as what they would spend in many Tier 1 cities in India. However, they believe the overall experience is very different.
In their post, they wrote, “‘Why did you move to Thailand?’ India will always be home. But after spending time in Thailand, we realized our day-to-day quality of life felt… better.” They also pointed out that while services like 10-minute deliveries are not available, they do not really miss them.
“Rent costs us about the same as many Tier 1 Indian cities, but the lifestyle that comes with it feels very different. No, we don’t have 10-minute deliveries. But when there’s a 7-Eleven every few hundred meters, you rarely need them.”
Everyday Interactions Feel Different
For Shreya, one of the biggest changes has been how people behave around each other. She said even simple things make daily life feel more relaxed.
She shared, “People are kind. Strangers smile. They hold doors open. They respect personal space. Most interactions feel less transactional and more human. As a woman, walking home late at night doesn’t feel like a risk assessment exercise. I don’t find myself constantly staying hyper-vigilant.”
The couple also posted a clip showing moments from their life in Thailand, including visits to different places and parts of their daily routine.
They Value Having More Time
Shreya and Amit said one of the biggest reasons they enjoy living in Thailand is that they spend less time commuting. They feel this gives them more freedom to focus on things they enjoy.
They wrote, “And perhaps the biggest one: time. It doesn’t feel like life is slipping away in traffic. Less time commuting. More time walking. More time working from cafés. More time together.”
Users Shared Similar Experiences
The post led to many responses from people who had either lived in Thailand or visited the country.
A user commented, “Thailand has every reason to fall in love with.” Another wrote, “I live in Bangkok since 12 years. I can relate this.”
A different user shared, “We are back in Thailand within a year for our 14-day road trip. Last year, we did a 17-day road trip. Yes, it feels like we are moving in here. The only thing, as an Indian, I miss is those food cravings. We can step out and have all that, but I guess avoiding it will make us feel much healthier. Everything feels positive and has the right tick.”
