BHU improves in QS World University Rankings 2027

Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University has achieved a landmark milestone in the globally recognised QS World University Rankings 2027, ascending from the 1001–1200 band in 2026 to the 951–1000 band in 2027.The latest assessment indicates growth across several key performance indicators. BHU’s Citations per Faculty score climbed from 18.8 to 20.8. The International Research Network score surged from 59.3 to 67.4. The university’s Employer Reputation score rose from 10.6 to 11.4 and the most striking leap was witnessed in sustainability, where BHU’s score vaulted from 44.5 to 61.3, a remarkable 37.8% improvement in an year.Appreciating the recent achievement, vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said, “To enter the 951-1000 band for the first time in BHU’s history is significant. We got here through dedication, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. Our sustainability leap alone speaks to a university that is thinking beyond classrooms. This ranking belongs to every student, every teacher, and every member of staff who has dedicated their best efforts to BHU. We are not chasing rankings; we are committed to building a university that deserves them.”
