Harsh Goenka has given people online a look at Harihar Fort in Maharashtra, a place known for its steep rock-cut stairs and breathtaking views. The industrialist shared a video showing trekkers climbing the fort’s narrow path, with many viewers surprised by how challenging the route looked.
The post also sparked a debate over whether Harihar Fort is really one of India’s toughest treks. While some praised the experience, others raised concerns about crowding and safety.
Goenka Shares Video Of The Climb
Sharing the clip on X, Goenka wrote, “One of the most difficult treks is Harihar Fort in Maharashtra!” The video shows long lines of people slowly making their way up the fort’s famous staircase, which looks almost vertical from certain angles.
Trekkers can be seen waiting for their turn to climb the narrow steps carved into the rock. Another part of the clip shows people moving through a tight path along the hillside, leaving little room to walk comfortably.
People Disagree Over Its Difficulty
Not everyone agreed with Goenka’s description of the trek. “Difficult treks don’t usually have so many people,” a user commented, pointing to the large crowds seen in the video. Another joked, “Looking at the crowd, it doesn’t seem difficult.”
Some users said the trek becomes much harder during the monsoon. “It gets even more difficult during the rainy season, yet people flock there to witness nature’s beauty without much regard for their safety,” a commenter wrote.
Others who had already visited the fort spoke fondly about the experience. One person shared, “It’s amazing. I have visited it once.” Another user suggested a similar adventure, writing, “Also check out Kalavanti Durg Trek in Panvel, Maharashtra. It is no less than a thriller.”
Safety Concerns Also Come Up
Apart from the debate over difficulty, several users questioned the safety arrangements at the site. “There are no visible safety arrangements, guard rails or marked trails. Is everything left to fate?” a person asked.
Another wrote, “It looks like a disaster waiting to happen. I hope the authorities can install some basic support along the way for trekkers.”
Some wondered whether the risk was worth it. “What do people really gain by taking such risks? I never understood putting your life on the line for a few moments of thrill,” a commenter said.
Amid the discussion, one user took a lighter approach and wrote, “I find my trekking on golf courses much more relaxing and enjoyable.” While another stated, “No visible safety arrangements, guard rails or marked trail. All bhagwan bharose?”
