Viral videos emerging from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and parts of Andhra Pradesh show RCB supporters celebrating their IPL title win by taking over roads, damaging property and disrupting traffic, sparking widespread criticism online.

What was supposed to be a night of pure cricket euphoria quickly spiraled out of control in multiple cities.

Hyderabad and Bengaluru Witness Road Blocks and Chaos

As jubilant supporters poured onto the streets following RCB’s victory over Gujarat Titans, videos from Bengaluru, Hyderabad and parts of Andhra Pradesh captured scenes of unruly celebrations, raising concerns about public safety and civic responsibility.

In Hyderabad, the situation turned particularly ugly. Several clips from Hyderabad showed large crowds taking over roads, setting off firecrackers and damaging public property. In some videos, people were seen pulling down barricades, while others climbed onto moving vehicles and celebrated recklessly.

The chaos grew to a point where local law enforcement had to step in forcefully. The situation reportedly became so chaotic in certain areas that police personnel had to intervene, with some videos appearing to show officers using lathi charges to disperse crowds and restore order.

The footage quickly spread across social media platforms, with many users questioning whether cricket celebrations had crossed the line into lawlessness.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru too witnessed massive celebrations after the franchise’s historic triumph. However, memories of past disasters hung heavy over the city. Authorities maintained tight security arrangements following last year’s stampede tragedy that claimed 11 lives during post-victory celebrations. Despite the precautions, videos of overcrowded streets and traffic disruptions from parts of the city also gained traction online. The unruly behavior wasn’t just limited to the tech hubs. A shocking video from Andhra Pradesh drew attention after a group of alleged fans was seen damaging a public bus following RCB’s victory.

The Internet Fumes Over “Toxic” Fan Culture

X (formerly Twitter) has been flooded with angry responses from citizens and rival cricket fans who feel the celebrations crossed all acceptable boundaries of civic sense.

Reacting to the viral clips, one social media user said celebrations should be about expressing joy, not causing damage. The user criticised people for blocking roads, disrupting traffic and vandalising public property, while praising the police for taking action against those involved in the chaos.

Others called for immediate and strict legal action against the miscreants. One user tagged local authorities, stating it is:

The backlash has also renewed the endless debate around fan toxicity in Indian cricket.
