A 35-year-old man was arrested for stealing a mobile phone from a bystander sleeping outside the burns ward of Kilpauk Govt Medical College and Hospital (KMC) in Chennai. The stolen phone was recovered, and the accused was remanded in judicial custody.

Chennai: A 35-year-old man was arrested for stealing a phone from a bystander sleeping at Kilpauk Government Medical College and Hospital. The phone was recovered, and the accused was remanded in judicial custody.Premkumar, 25, of Nelladikuppam in Cuddalore district, had come to the hospital to care for his younger brother, Nitishkumar, who was undergoing treatment for burn injuries. In the early hours of Thursday, while Premkumar was sleeping outside the ward, a man stole his mobile phone and tried to flee. Premkumar woke up, raised an alarm and chased the suspect.With the help of bystanders, the man was caught and handed over to the Kilpauk police. Police identified the suspect as Sait, alias Jayaram, 35, a daily wage worker from Tindivanam.
