91% turnout as 2.4L appear for police constable exam in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Around 2.4 lakh candidates on Sunday appeared for the written examination for recruitment of constables in the state police force.A statement from the Gujarat Police Recruitment Board said that of the 2.6 lakh candidates shortlisted for the written test, 2.4 lakh (91%) appeared at centres in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Gandhinagar and Anand.The examination was held at 879 centres across the cities, with over 17,000 education department employees and 9,000 police personnel deployed to ensure smooth conduct.The statement added that the examination was monitored through CCTV cameras at all centres, and candidates were allowed to appear only after biometric verification.It further said that the test carried 200 marks and OMR sheets of all candidates would be uploaded on the recruitment board’s website within 24 hours. Candidates can download their OMR sheets until June 29, the statement added.
