Ahmedabad soaks in showers, records 3mm in four hours
Rain returned to Ahmedabad after a break, on Monday, Aug 10, catching many in a sudden shower

Ahmedabad: The city was caught in a rainy spell on Monday afternoon after several overcast and muggy days. Between 12 noon and 4pm, the city received 3mm overall, with several areas in the west receiving a good share. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tuesday could bring light to moderate showers. Wednesday could be a cloudy day.Monday’s maximum temperature was 29.4 degrees celsius, 2 degrees above normal. The minimum at 26.8 degrees, too, was higher than normal by 1.5 degrees. Relative humidity remained high at 79% at 8.30am and 5.30pm, an IMD bulletin said.The current weather systems affecting Gujarat include a low-pressure area over north Madhya Pradesh and a shear zone across central and north peninsular India. A low-pressure area is likely to be formed in northwest Bay of Bengal from Aug 12 onwards, according to an IMD bulletin.In its forecast for the state, IMD has indicated chances of heavy rain at isolated places in Aravali, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar and Chhota Udepur, and thunderstorms with light to moderate rain in Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Narmada, Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Botad.On Wednesday, light to moderate rain is likely in parts of Sabarkantha, Aravali, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar.
