Nagpur: Four firms have thrown their hats into the ring to redevelop the now-closed Krazy Castle site, presenting detailed proposals before MahaMetro officials for transforming the landmark Ambazari property into a theme park and commercial hub under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.Sources said the proposals will undergo detailed evaluation, with MahaMetro assessing their technical feasibility, financial viability and long-term sustainability before finalising a developer.Spread across 5.39 acres near Ambazari Lake and adjoining Dharampeth College Metro Station, the site has remained largely unused since the closure of Krazy Castle Aqua Park during Phase I of the Metro project. The redevelopment is aimed at generating non-fare revenue for the Metro.Of the total land parcel, nearly 4.96 acres have been earmarked for the amusement park, while about 1,752 sqm has been reserved for commercial use.According to the project’s design brief, MahaMetro has proposed an international-standard amusement destination catering to all age groups. The development may feature a Global Village-inspired theme park, amusement rides, entertainment and recreation zones, indoor gaming arcades, bowling alleys, restaurants, food courts, exhibition centres, auditoriums, community halls, banquet facilities and parking infrastructure.A key element of the project is the integration of landmark-inspired structures modelled on the Taj Mahal, Disney Castle, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, and pavilions representing China and Thailand. The selected developer will be responsible for refurbishing and strengthening these structures as part of the redevelopment.Sources familiar with the process said the proposals outline plans for visitor engagement, investment, commercial operations and long-term maintenance. Officials expect the tender process to progress after the Model Code of Conduct for the MLC bypolls ends on June 22.The project is among the largest redevelopment initiatives planned on Metro-owned land in Nagpur and is expected to revive a prominent site that has remained in limbo for years.
