3,000 pani puris, 4 kg samosas discarded in Hyderabad’s Attapur during food safety raid at unlicensed establishment

Nearly 3,000 pani puris, 4 kg of samosas and 2 litres of reused cooking oil were discarded by the Telangana Food Safety Department on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) after officials found an unlicensed food establishment operating under unhygienic conditions in Attapur, Hyderabad.

The inspection was carried out following a complaint received through the Food Safety Help Desk. During the raid, officials found that the food business was operating without a valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence.

Multiple food safety violations

Officials also observed multiple food safety violations, including the reuse of blackened cooking oil, housefly infestation, poor sanitation, open drainage near the premises and unhygienic food preparation practices. Garbage was found accumulated close to the food preparation area, while no pest control measures were implemented. Food handlers were also found working without protective gear. 

Samples of food items were collected and sent for laboratory analysis. The department said business operations at the establishment had been stopped and action under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act) had been initiated against the operator.
