Three labourers died and two others sustained injuries following a reported chemical leak at a factory in the Kadechur-Badiyal Industrial Area of Yadgir district, in Karnataka, in the early hours of August 5.
The deceased have been identified as Vikram and Sanjay, both residents of Katni district in Madhya Pradesh, and Ganesh, a native of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana. All three victims were aged between 20 and 25 years.
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place between 1 AM and 2 AM inside the industrial plant.
After the incident, the five labourers were rushed to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in neighbouring Raichur district, where three were declared brought dead.
The injured persons — Hemanth and Shivakumar, both from Andhra Pradesh’s Ananthapur district — are undergoing treatment. One of them is stated to be battling for life.

The authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the exact nature of the chemical involved, or the sequence of events leading to the leak.
