2 flats looted in Doordarshan Colony

Guwahati: Residents of the Doordarshan Colony in the city’s Borbari area were left shaken after a burglar allegedly targeted two flats, looting valuables on Friday evening, police said.“During the investigation, we found that only a single person had carried out the entire burglary,” said a police officer from Dispur Police Station.Officers didn’t reveal anything on the items stolen, stating that they were still assessing the extent of the loss.According to police, the first incident occurred at Block C-15 of the colony, where a minor was threatened. It was found that the child was alone at home during the time of the incident. “The person entered the house, pointed a dummy gun at the minor, and locked him in the bathroom. We have no knowledge of which items were stolen. The boy immediately called his parents after the person left,” the officer added.The second incident was reported from Block B-32 later the same night. Police have not disclosed details of the burglary but said, “One of the residents caught sight of the suspect fleeing and immediately informed us. We are currently looking for the person.”While scanning CCTV footage, police reportedly obtained a glimpse of the suspected burglar. According to the footage, the individual was seen wearing a cap and scarf and carrying a bag.Following the incident, a case has been registered at Dispur Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
