16-year-old girl rescued in Farrukhabad, 3 held for ‘trafficking’ plot

Kanpur: Police in UP’s Farrukhabad district rescued a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped and confined in a house in Kutra village in the Fatehgarh area before the accused could force her into prostitution. The girl was recovered seven days after she went missing.On Saturday, three people, including a couple, were arrested in connection with the case and sent to jail. Cops are searching for an e-rickshaw driver who allegedly took the girl to Kutra.The girl, who lived in the Kamalganj police station area, went missing from her home on the afternoon of May 8. When her family was unable to trace her, her mother lodged an FIR against two men from Fatehullapur and Khanpur.Acting on the investigation, sub-inspector Kamlesh Kumar led a police raid on Friday night in the Fatehgarh Kotwali area. During the operation, police recovered the girl and arrested three people.According to the investigating officer, the girl claimed she got off a train at Farrukhabad railway station and hired a rickshaw outside to travel to Khanpur to meet her boyfriend. However, the rickshaw driver allegedly took her to Kutra and confined her in a house there.
