Zetwerk, Ayr lock horns in US over trade-secret theft claims

Bengaluru: Manufacturing platform Zetwerk and US power equipment maker Ayr Energy are locked in a legal battle over alleged theft of confidential information.Zetwerk first sued Ayr and its co-founder Anirudh Reddy in Texas in October 2025, alleging that Reddy incorporated Ayr while serving as a senior Zetwerk executive and left with confidential documents. Zetwerk sought $100 million in damages. Ayr’s attempt to have the case dismissed was rejected.Ayr, whose California claim was withdrawn, has now filed counterclaims in the Texas Business Court and a complaint before the US International Trade Commission. It alleges Zetwerk used stolen trade secrets to build a transformer business and placed an employee inside Ayr under false pretenses.Ayr has sought a ban on imports of transformers it alleges were made using its proprietary information. and at least $1 billion in damages. The allegations have not been adjudicated.“This latest complaint is Ayr’s answer to a case it cannot avoid. We will prove these allegations in court,” a Zetwerk spokesperson said.
