Quick Highlights:

  • The e-bike is based on the Vida VxZ platform

  • Both bikes share multiple components including frame, suspension electronics and more

  • Could get a 8.8kWh battery pack

Electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles has finally given us a much clearer look at its upcoming electric motorcycle called the Lompico, through its leaked design patents. While the bike was first teased late last year as a futuristic concept, these latest images give us a rough idea about what the production version could look like.

What’s particularly interesting is its connection to Hero MotoCorp. The patent drawings reveal that the Lompico shares its platform with the upcoming Hero Vida VxZ electric motorcycle. This isn’t entirely surprising considering Hero invested USD 60 million in Zero back in 2023, and the two companies have been working closely together ever since. The patent images show that both motorcycles share several major components, including the steel trellis frame, battery pack, electric motor, suspension, wheels, brakes, swingarm, and even the TFT instrument console. In simple terms, the Lompico and Vida VxZ appear to be mechanical twins underneath their bodywork.

Where the two bikes differ is in the design. While the Vida VxZ is expected to feature a more conventional motorcycle look, the Zero Lompico takes a much more radical approach. Its bodywork appears to flow as one continuous piece from front to rear, giving it a futuristic appearance. Up front, it gets a unique triple-headlight setup with a central LED flanked by two vertical light strips. The rear follows a similar design theme with vertically-oriented lighting elements.

Performance is expected to be respectable as well. Zero has already confirmed that the motorcycle will produce around 40PS, while reports suggest it could use an 8.8kWh battery pack. If that turns out to be true, the Lompico and the Vida VxZ could offer a compelling balance of performance and practicality. With Hero and Zero sharing technology, manufacturing costs could also be reduced significantly. If launched successfully, the Lompico could mark the beginning of a new generation of affordable, globally developed electric motorcycles.
