Yoga Day in Hubballi

Hubballi: Though 12th International Yoga Day fell on Sunday this year, various govt departments and social organisations celebrated the day with enthusiasm. However, despite the govt’s order, most of school-colleges did not celebrate it on Sunday but preponed or postponed the celebration for a day.SWR celebrated the day from 6am to 8am and saw active participation from railway officers, staff and their family members. Yoga trainer Usha Moad demonstrated various asanas and pranayama techniques and explained the benefits of regular yoga practice. SWR general manager P Ananth, additional GM Rama Mohana Reddy, principal heads of departments, SWR Women’s welfare organisation, Bharat Scouts and Guides, RPF personnel and railway employees were present on the occasion.Hubballi division of SWR also celebrated the day. Divisional railway manager Bela Meena emphasised importance of Yoga in building a healthy and disease-free society. Highlighting challenges of today’s fast-paced and stressful world, she advised one to make yoga a part of their daily routine to achieve better health, inner peace, and overall well-being. Yoga expert Nivedita Srinath from Art of Living foundation demonstrated yoga asanas.At the Karnataka State Law University, Yoga Guru Sanjeev Kumar S Hadagali demonstrated Yoga asanas. Varsity’s sport director Khalid Khan, faculty members Rajendra Kumar Hittanagi, Parvati M, Manjanna Janagawad, Muttanna Badagandi and students participated in the Yoga session.Addressing mass Yoga programme organised by Kshamata Seva Samsthe and Dhanyosmi Yoga Kendra, social worker Govind Joshi said that Yoga is not just a physical activity but it’s a way to achieve physical, mental and soulful balance. MLC Lingaraj Patil said yoga is an ancient art contributed by India to the whole world.
