A disturbing incident of sexual harassment aboard a public bus has sparked outrage on the internet. The incident happened at the Deori bus stand in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, where CCTV footage showed a young woman confronting and slapping a man who allegedly flashed his private parts and attempted to sexually harass her in full view of other passengers.
The accused, identified as Nitesh Gond, entered the bus and was captured walking towards two young women who were seated in the front. As seen in the CCTV footage, the man moved closer to one of the women, who was sitting in the aisle seat, unzipped his pants and attempted to touch her shoulder with his private part.
The woman, who was sitting on the window seat, noticed him first. She immediately alerted her friend. Once she saw him, she first tried to move away from him, but when he continued with the inappropriate behaviour, she stood up and slapped him in front of the other passengers. Following the confrontation, the accused immediately got off the bus and fled the spot.
“He Needs To Be Put In Prison”
The CCTV footage of the incident has sparked outrage among social media users, with many even praising the woman’s courage to confront the man and stand up for herself.
“Brave girl! She didn’t freeze; she hit back at the right moment and stood her ground. That’s real courage. Disgusting behaviour has no place in public, especially not in a moving bus full of people. Glad the police acted fast and arrested him. More power to women who refuse to stay silent. Respect!” wrote a user.
Another said, “He needs to be put in prison. An animal moving free is not good for society.”
“Such perverts must be called out and taught a lesson. Never let such behaviour go; retaliate appropriately. Else it gives a wrong message. Wonder what should be a more fitting solution to this,” an individual mentioned.
Someone else shared, “There are men who simply cannot control their urges and are blinded to a point that nothing matters to them. They are mentally challenged. They don’t deserve to live in a civil society.”
Police Have Detained The Accused
After the CCTV footage began circulating on social media, Deori police identified and detained the accused. According to the police, neither the woman nor her family has filed a formal written complaint regarding the incident so far. However, officials have assured that appropriate action will be taken against anyone found harassing women.
