Woman kidnapped over land dispute found in Gwalior

Kanpur: Ekdil Police on Thursday successfully rescued a 32-year-old woman from Gwalior who was allegedly kidnapped by two men of her village on Apr 5 over a land dispute.The woman’s husband, a native of Raipura village in the Ekdil area had registered an FIR in the matter. However, the police couldn’t find her.Distressed over her no whereabouts, the husband, on May 18, attempted suicide by drinking phenyl outside SSP office at the Collectorate in Etawah, after which he was admitted to hospital in a deteriorating condition.After the incident, the police intensified the search for the woman.By using surveillance and other means, the cops located the woman in Gwalior.During interrogation, the woman said that two accused from her village kidnapped her about one-and-a-half-months ago over a land dispute.Police produced the woman before the court and recorded her statement on Thursday. After completing legal procedures, she was handed over to her father. The woman also submitted an application to the SSP demanding that a kidnapping case be registered against the two.Inspector in-charge, Vikram Singh Chauhan said the woman and her husband alleged that the kidnapping was linked to a land dispute, and that the matter was being investigated and further action would be taken on the basis of the investigation.
