The police said the couple was travelling along the Kumaran Nagar Main Road, when a huge branch from a roadside tree suddenly snapped and crashed onto the vehicle.

A 65-year-old woman sustained injuries after a large tree branch fell on the car she was travelling in at Virugambakkam on Tuesday.
The police said the couple was travelling on the Kumaran Nagar Main Road when a huge branch of a roadside tree fell on the vehicle. The injured woman, identified as Lakshmi, of Saligramam, was rushed to a government hospital for treatment.
On receiving information, personnel from the Ashok Nagar Fire and Rescue Services reached the spot and removed the fallen branch from the road. The Virugambakkam Police conducted an inquiry at the scene.
