Bengaluru college student’s murder mystery deepens as boyfriend found unconscious next to her body

BENGALURU: A 22-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her rented house in Bengaluru’s Byadarahalli area, with police naming her boyfriend as the prime accused in the case.The victim, identified as S Bhavani, lived in Tulsainagar near Magadi Main Road and was working as a billing assistant at a mobile showroom while pursuing her studies. Her boyfriend, Chandrashekhar alias Chandu, was found unconscious beside her when police broke open the door of the house on Friday morning.According to the complaint filed by Bhavani’s father, Srinivas, a cook, the family had recently come to know about her relationship with Chandrashekhar. Srinivas told police that he had decided to arrange her marriage with another man after learning about the relationship.The case came to light after a family member shared a photograph of Bhavani and Chandrashekhar on WhatsApp on Friday morning. Concerned, Srinivas tried calling his daughter, but her phone was switched off.Alarmed, the family alerted the house owner, who informed them that the door was locked from inside and there was no response from within. Police were then called to the spot.When officers broke open the door around 9. 30am, they found Bhavani lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Chandrashekhar was found unconscious beside her. Bhavani was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.Police said preliminary investigations indicate that Bhavani was murdered using a sharp weapon. The motive is suspected to be linked to a personal dispute between the couple.An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.Police are also probing the circumstances under which Chandrashekhar lost consciousness and are awaiting medical reports.
