India will begin its two-match Test series against Sri Lanka on Saturday, August 15 in Galle.
With spinners expected to play a prominent role in the series, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be in the spotlight for India. Jadeja is expected to lead a spin contingent that also includes Manav Suthar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Saransh Jain.
Along with KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav, Jadeja is one of three members of this squad that remains from India’s last tour of Sri Lanka. He played two of three matches on that trip, taking 13 wickets at an average of 28.76, and scoring 85 runs.
His best performance came in the second Test, where he took combined figures of seven for 236 (including five in the second innings) and scored an unbeaten 70 with the bat as India won by an innings and 53 runs.
He has also played 15 ODIs and one T20I in Sri Lanka. In ODIs, he has 12 wickets at 28.25 and 153 runs, while he bowled four wicketless overs for 29 and scored five runs in his solitary T20I appearance on debut in 2009.
