Mangaluru: As the West Asia crisis disrupts livelihoods in the Gulf, private schools in undivided Dakshina Kannada are seeing more students return midstream, leading to a modest rise in admissions.Anthony Joseph, associate director, The Yenepoya School, said the institution has admitted a few students who were earlier enrolled in Gulf schools. He said one parent who had planned to shift to Dubai with family has now decided to keep the child in Mangaluru because of the crisis. “We expect more queries for admissions in the coming days,” he said.Fr Rolwyn Joy Aranha, principal, Don Bosco English Medium School, Shirva, said the school has received only a few such admissions so far. He said the numbers are likely to increase once the academic year in Gulf countries ends in late June or early July.A school representative said the trend is similar to the Covid‑19 period, when students returned from Gulf countries to continue their studies in their hometowns, though the impact is milder this time. The representative said the numbers remain limited due to the short admission window and air travel restrictions.
