Gurgaon: Booth level officers (BLOs) have started door-to-door visits across the city to verify voter details as part of the special intensive revision (SIR-2026) of electoral rolls.District authorities said they are closely monitoring the verification drive and coordinating with resident welfare associations and housing societies to ensure uninterrupted access for enumerators. The administration has also warned of strict action — including registration of FIRs — against any BLO found negligent in performing assigned duties during the revision process.Armed with voter lists and enumeration forms, BLOs started visiting residential colonies and housing societies to distribute forms and verify voter information. The exercise, which commenced in several parts of the district, will be gradually expanded to cover all areas in the coming weeks.District election officer and deputy commissioner Uttam Singh said during the campaign, BLOs are providing voters with the enumeration form. “Through this form, the details recorded in the voter list will be verified. BLOs will obtain information from voters including mobile number, date of birth, Aadhaar number (voluntary), name of parents or spouse, along with other necessary information,” Singh said. The DC said that voters whose names, or the names of their parents, are recorded in the voter list of 2002 will only have to fill and submit the enumeration form, whereas those whose names are not available in the voter list of 2002 will have to submit at least one document out of the prescribed documents. These documents include birth certificate, identity card, passport, driving licence, educational certificate, residence certificate, land- or property-related records, along with other valid documents prescribed by Election Commission. The DC said that during the campaign, the process of registration of new eligible voters, correction in name and address and removal of names of dead or transferred voters will also continue. For this, Form 6, Form 7 and Form 8 will be used. He appealed to all voters of the district to provide correct and complete information and cooperate in making the campaign successful by submitting the necessary documents in time. For the strength of democracy, an accurate and “updated voter list” is extremely necessary, and the participation of every citizen in it is important, he added.Electoral registration officer and SDM (Badshapur) Sanjeev Singla conducted a surprise inspection in a housing society in Sector 57. “An FIR will be registered under Section 32 of Representation of Public Act against BLOs, which is for negligence and disobedience. It has provision for three months and fine,” said Singla, who inspected various polling stations and booths. He reviewed the verification work as well as the process of getting the enumeration form filled.Singla said the administration has set up a control room at his office and continuous calls are being made to BLOs asking for their locations. “This is being done to ensure all BLOs hit the ground and visit the societies,” said Singla. For smooth access inside the societies, they are informing the voter about the visit of BLO through RWA.
