Temple hundi People still offer banned notes by putting inside ‘Hundi’ in temples.
Bengaluru: Following the alleged theft of devotees’ offerings to Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the govt in Karnataka has come out with standard operating procedure (SOP) to manage hundis.Accordingly, temples are asked to replace volunteers with home guards, bank personnel or govt workers to count hundi cash. Private persons will no longer be allowed in the counting of the money.To avoid theft from devotees, the govt is promoting QR code-based payments. Stickers with QR codes are to be placed where hundis are located, the SOP released by the revenue department said Saturday.Temple officials are asked to check the QR codes from time to time to ensure that they are not wiped out or replaced with other stickers.
