Two teachers, 3 govt staff suspended

Chandrapur: Two teachers and three government employees have been suspended with immediate effect for allegedly showing serious negligence in the preparation, revision and correction of electoral rolls in Chandrapur district, officials said on Sunday.The action was ordered by the Chandrapur District Collector and District Election Officer after an inquiry found that the officials had failed to properly discharge their statutory duties related to updating voter lists, including the inclusion and deletion of eligible voters in accordance with election rules.Those suspended are assistant teachers R.B. Yesambare of Murlidhar Bagla High School and Anand Gedam of a Chandrapur Municipal Corporation school. The other suspended employees are Sonu Dhumne, Kiran Ramteke and Manoj Shende, all attached to the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Regional Headquarters in Chandrapur.The suspension has been issued under Section 13(AA) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and Rule 4(1) of the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979. The district administration said the disciplinary action followed findings of grave lapses in the performance of official election-related responsibilities.Under the Maharashtra Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1979, the suspended employees will not be permitted to accept private employment or engage in any business during the suspension period. Any violation of these conditions could invite further disciplinary action, and may also result in the loss of subsistence allowance, the Collector’s order said.
