The Trinamool Congress is set to approach the Supreme Court against 20 rebel Lok Sabha MPs, who broke away from the party and joined the little-known Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NPCI). According to sources, the Mamata Banerjee-led party is likely to file a petition seeking their disqualification within seven to 10 days.
As Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s office has not taken a call on the complaints filed by TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee over the rebel MPs’ move, the party has decided to move the Supreme Court, sources said.
