Prayagraj: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hoisted the tricolour in a ceremony held at the reserve police lines in Sangam city on Saturday to mark 80th Independence Day.Maurya also inspected the exhibition and the stalls set up by self-help groups. Besides, cultural programmes presented by children on this occasion, filled hearts with a sense of patriotism and pride.Extending his greetings for the 80th Independence Day, the deputy chief minister paid tribute to all the brave martyrs and freedom fighters. . On this occasion, he recalled the contributions of the Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of the Constitution Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and great revolutionary martyrs like Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaqulla Khan and Rani Lakshmibai, among countless others. He also extended heartfelt greetings and salutations to the brave soldiers guarding the borders, police personnel, farmers, labourers, scientists, women and the youths.Deputy CM noted that the nation will complete 100 years of independence in 2047, and urged citizens to pledge to make the country self-reliant and a developed India. He emphasized that every citizen must contribute to realizing this resolve, expressing full confidence that the people of the country would not lag behind when it comes to the national interest. He remarked that citizens are becoming a part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (Tricolour in Every Home) campaign, which reflects their spirit of patriotism. Maurya appreciated the efforts of the police and PAC forces in maintaining an efficient and robust law-and-order situation in the state.Meanwhile, a function was held at the Allahabad high court to celebrate the 80th Independence Day. Judges with their families, former Judges, advocate general, Additional advocate general , additional solicitor general of India, members of Bar , officers and staff of the court assembled at the front lawn of the court. Justice Arun Bhansali, Chief Justice, hoisted the national flag followed by national anthem. CRPF band party presented delightful performance and the guard of honor was presented by the CRPF and police.At Allahabad University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sangeeta Srivastava hoisted the national flag at varsity campus. Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at North Central Railway headquarters Office, Prayagraj. TOn the occasion, the General Manager inspected the parade of Railway Protection Force, Bharat Scout and Guides and St. John Ambulance Brigade.The General Manager also awarded the 31 including 25 railway employees and 06 contract sanitation workers, for their outstanding work.
