The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella has finally been launched in India. The top-end E3 variant has been priced at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom), while prices of the E1 and E2 variants are yet to be announced. The Toyota Ebella is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara, but with Toyota’s own design language. For reference, the top-spec Maruti eVitara variant with the larger 61kWh battery pack is available at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Similar to the Maruti eVitara, the new Toyota electric SUV is available with BaaS (Battery-as-a-service) rental scheme. However, the BaaS prices for the Ebella are yet to be revealed.

Battery & Range

The Toyota Ebella E3 comes powered by a 61kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor, generating power worth 172bhp and 189Nm of torque. This variant offers a claimed range of up to 543km on a single charge.

Earlier this year, Toyota confirmed that the Ebella E1 will be offered with a smaller 49kWh battery pack paired to an electric motor. This setup delivers a maximum power of 144hbp and 189Nm of torque along with a claimed range of up to 440km.

Interior & Features

The interior of the new Toyota electric SUV looks largely similar to that of the Maruti eVitara, expect Toyota’s badging on the steering wheel. The EV offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display. It also comes with a dual-tone brown and black theme with contrasting silver highlights on the steering wheel, AC vents and door handles.

Other key features include a JBL audio system, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, 12-colour ambient lighting, reclining and 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats, leatherette upholstery, a sunroof, ventilated front seats, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and more.

Design & Colours

The Toyota EV appears more like the Maruti eVitara. However, design elements such as triangular headlamps, sleeker segmented LED DRLs, revised front bumper with two vertical air vents and a thick black trim at the front differentiate it from the eVitara.

The Toyota Ebella is available in five monotone colour schemes – Bluish Black, Café White, Sportin Red, Gaming Grey and Enticing Silver. The dual-tone paint schemes include Land Breeze, Café White, Sportin Red, Green and Enticing Silver, all available with a black roof.
