TMC Rajya Sabha MP Crisis Live Updates: Amid the ongoing crisis in Trinamool Congress (TMC) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will meet dissident TMC MPs in Delhi on Sunday. The rebel MPs are scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday. Basunia said around 20 dissident MPs would seek recognition as the “real TMC”. The faction is being led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and has emerged as the centre of the rebellion within the Trinamool Congress.
Crisis spreads across party ranks: The Trinamool Congress crisis has continued to widen, with dissent now visible among MPs, MLAs and senior party leaders. The latest flashpoint came when veteran leader and senior advocate Kalyan Banerjee publicly criticised national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. He accused him of arrogance and said he would no longer represent him in legal matters. Kalyan Banerjee also challenged party chief Mamata Banerjee to choose between him and her nephew, indicating that his future in the party could depend on her decision.
At the parliamentary level, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has claimed that nearly 20 MPs support the dissident camp. She has also indicated that the group would be willing to support the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
MPs’ resignations: The party has also been hit by a series of resignations. Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev resigned from both Parliament and the party, following the earlier resignation of senior leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray.
Several MPs have joined the dissident camp, including Yusuf Pathan, Abu Taher Khan, Partha Bhowmik, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Bapi Haldar, Saayoni Ghosh, Rachana Banerjee, Asit Mal, K Rahman, Sharmila Sarkar, Mitali Bag, Shatrughan Sinha, Kalipada Soren, June Malia, Mala Roy, Dev Adhikari, Satabdi Roy, Jagadish Chandra Barma Basunia and Arup Chakrabarty.
