Coimbatore: Three people were arrested on Saturday, for recently stealing copper wires worth several lakh rupees from a scrap shop in Kuniyamuthur. Police also recovered 14.750kg of stolen copper wires and 5,000 in cash from them.The arrested have been identified as F Ashif, 25, K Jaffer Ali, 31, both residents of Karumbukadai, and H Mohammed Yasar, 24, of Ukkadam in the city. Kuniyamuthur police said a hunt is on for another accused identified as Azad, who was also involved in the crime.Police said M Aravind of Kuniyamuthur runs a scrap business on KGK Road in Kuniyamuthur. “Unidentified people broke into the premises sometime between June 29 and July 2 and stole around 60kg of copper wires kept in the shop.” said an officer.Based on a complaint lodged by Aravind, Kuniyamuthur police registered a case and launched an investigation. During enquiries, it was revealed that four people were involved in the crime.Police subsequently arrested three of the four accused on Saturday. They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is on.
