Deepti Sharma claimed two wickets as Sunrisers Leeds kicked off the sixth edition of The Hundred with an seven-wicket win over MI London at The Oval on Tuesday, July 21.
Deepti struck twice to remove openers Hayley Matthews and Danni Wyatt-Hodge as Sunrisers managed to restrict its host to 107 for eight in its 100 balls. She dismissed Matthews caught and bowled before having Wyatt-Hodge caught at long-on. Captain Dani Gibson and Hannah Baker also claimed two wickets each.
Matthews was the top-scorer with 33 from 22 deliveries including four boundaries and one six.
In the chase, MI London stuck twice early to reduce Sunrisers to 24 for two, but a 57-run partnership between Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield steadied the side.
Litchfield eventually fell for 43 from 26 balls, but Gibson walked in to steady the chase.
