Hyderabad: Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) will launch the ‘Prajabata–Bastibata’ programme across all 21 operation circles under its jurisdiction from Thursday. The programme will be conducted every Thursday, during which TGSPDCL officials will visit consumers at their doorstep, understand their electricity-related grievances, and take immediate steps for their resolution.TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Jitesh V Patil said as part of ‘Governance at the Doorstep of the People’ initiative, TGSPDCL is expanding the Prajabata–Bastibata initiative to strengthen its direct engagement with electricity consumers.Under this programme, consumers no longer need to visit electricity offices for resolving their grievances. Instead, TGSPDCL officers, engineers and field staff would personally visit bastis, colonies, villages, tribal habitations and urban localities, interact with consumers, identify their electricity-related issues and resolve them, wherever possible, on the spot. The programme would also provide an opportunity to gather direct feedback from consumers regarding the quality and reliability of power supply and enable field officers to identify and address local issues promptly, the CMD said.Discoms would also focus on extensive system improvement works, including transformer maintenance, yard cleaning, rectification of voltage fluctuations, tightening of loose conductors, erection of inter poles, replacement of damaged or rusted poles, and replacement of defective conductors.“Special emphasis will also be given to raising transformer plinths in flood-prone areas, modernisation of the distribution network, maintenance and restoration works to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply,” the CMD said. Electrical safety awareness would be taken up and consumers would be educated on the importance of proper earthing in residential premises, safe use of electricity, energy conservation and efficient power consumption, he added.
