Telangana marked its 12th formation on Tuesday, June 2, with celebrations across the State, reflecting on the journey since its creation and highlighting the ongoing development initiatives.
At the Formation Day celebrations held at Lok Bhavan, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said Telangana was steadily emerging as a model of inclusive, equitable and sustainable development.
Addressing the gathering, he remarked that ‘Jai Telangana’ was not a mere slogan but a symbol of the movement for self-respect, unity and identity that led to the formation of the State.
During the event, the Governor felicitated Lok Bhavan Chief Security Officers Srinivas and Mattaiah, who were recently selected for the President’s Distinguished Service Medal and the Service Medal respectively.
In Sangareddy, Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha distributed laptops to visually impaired students. The Minister also handed over cheques worth ₹69.19 crore to 768 Self-Help Groups under the bank linkage loan scheme. Identity cards were distributed to members of the transgender community as part of the programme.

In Jangaon district, Alair MLA Beerla Ilaiah inaugurated 62 women-managed fertiliser shops. District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha described the initiative as a step that combined women’s empowerment, rural development and farmer welfare, adding that it would serve as an example for similar efforts elsewhere.
At the Hyderabad Collectorate, District Collector Priyanka Ala hoisted the national flag after receiving a police guard of honour. She also paid floral tributes to Telangana Thalli as part of the commemorative events.
Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner G. Srijana also paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the creation of Telangana. “ Over the past 12 years, Telangana has emerged as a symbol of aspiration, resilience and development, setting benchmarks across multiple sectors,” she said.
