Lucknow: The basic education department has extended the deadline for submitting applications for inter-district mutual transfers of teachers working in state-run schools, providing relief to married teacher couples seeking postings in the same district. With this, teachers will be able to apply till Aug 5.Issued by additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, the order stated that the deadline was extended for transfer requests filed by married teachers employed in state-run schools.Govt had stated that if both husband and wife were teachers and one of them applied for transfer, the transfer could be considered in a district where the teacher-student ratio remained balanced. However, they came up with a clarification in June, specifying that only the spouse who submitted the application would be considered for transfer, while the other spouse would remain at the existing posting. The matter was challenged before the Allahabad High Court, after which the state govt was asked to provide further opportunity to eligible teachers to submit applications. Therefore, the basic education department came up with the revised deadline. The department has further directed district-level authorities to widely publicize the revised schedule through the department’s online portal and ensure that all eligible teachers are informed about the revised schedule.
