NASHIK: A viral video surfaced on Monday evening showing a group of men on motorcycles attacking a car with sticks and rods. The victims, a family of eight from Nashik, had been visiting Bhavli Dam, a popular tourist spot in Igatpuri taluka, on Sunday evening.According to the police, the incident began when a group of local men allegedly whistled at the women in the family, sparking an altercation.Although the initial dispute was seemingly resolved, another group of local youths intercepted the family as they tried to leave and attacked their car with sticks and stones.As the tourists fled, the attackers pursued them in a car and on motorcycles, repeatedly striking their vehicle with rods and sticks for nearly 15 kilometres, from Bhavli Dam to Gonde.The family initially reported the incident to the Ambad police station, and the case was subsequently transferred to the Igatpuri police.Superintendent of Police DS Swami said a case has been registered against six to seven unidentified individuals on charges of attempt to murder and outraging the modesty of a woman.Using the viral video footage, the police have since traced and detained nine suspects from various areas around Igatpuri.
