Pune: Swati Mujumdar, renowned expert in skill education, has been appointed chancellor of Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) in Pune.A Ph.D in skill development and a Fulbright Scholar, Mujumdar has also served as chairperson of the Maharashtra Govt’s Vocational Education and Skill Development Committee. She is also associated with UNESCO as chair on gender inclusion and skill development.Under her leadership, SSPU has emerged as a national benchmark for skill-based, industry-integrated and experiential higher education.The university was ranked India’s No. 1 Skill University in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for two consecutive years — 2024 and 2025. SSPU currently offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programmes in disciplines including engineering, management, data science, AI, defence technology, architecture, logistics, FinTech, among others, serving around 5,000 students.As chancellor, Mujumdar will further strengthen SSPU’s academic excellence, skill-based education, research, innovation, entrepreneurship and global collaborations.
