Varanasi: Under the industrial logistics scheme, Sonbhadra will have the highest number of road projects among the proposals approved by the state govt. The state govt has approved 22 road construction proposals, including six for Sonbhadra. Around ₹202 crore will be spent on the construction of six roads covering a total length of 127 km.This approval is expected to give new momentum to Sonbhadra’s development, said officials.Sonbhadra district magistrate Charchit Gaur said the govt has approved the construction of six roads connecting Sonbhadra with other districts to promote industrial growth. He said that, under the industrial logistics scheme, 22 road construction proposals have been approved across the state, with Sonbhadra receiving the highest number of approvals.Gaur said the Murdhwa–Myorpur–Babhani–Chapki–Bijpur road will be built at a cost of ₹36.75 crore. The Nadhira–Dhartidad road will be constructed at a cost of ₹1.20 crore. The Varanasi–Shaktinagar state highway will be developed at a cost of ₹41.79 crore.Similarly, the Dibulganj–Jogendra road will be constructed for ₹48.38 crore, the route from RS Road to Kodra Tola will be built at a cost of ₹18.53 crore, and the Chopan–Kota–Kon–Karaundi road will be constructed at a cost of ₹55.5 crore.Gaur said that surveys and other related work were completed quickly by the departments concerned, which helped secure approval for the construction of six roads in the district.He said these roads will provide better connectivity to industries. The tender process will be completed soon, after which construction work will begin. Improved connectivity will reduce the time and cost of transporting raw materials and finished goods. The proposed roads will benefit not only industries but also the public. Travel, which currently takes a long time, will become much faster after the roads are built. The new roads are also expected to reduce accidents on these routes,.He said proposals for five more roads in the district have been sent to the govt for approval under the scheme. These proposals are expected to be approved soon. The proposals include a two-lane road from Dala Khanna camp to Billi road, a two-lane road from Khadia to Telgarhwa bridge near the Shaktinagar border, and two link roads to improve access to Churk cement factory.A proposal has also been sent for the construction of a road from Obra Degree College to the nagar panchayat office in Obra. In addition, a proposal worth ₹16 crore has been submitted for widening the Meena Bazaar Ghurma feeder to Kuniawan Tola road.
