Varanasi: Under the series of national countdown programmes organised by Bharat Adhyayan Kendra and Banaras Hindu University, in collaboration with the ministry of Ayush, govt of India and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, on the occasion of International Day of Yoga–2026, the sixth countdown day of ‘Yoga Mahotsav-2026’ concluded on Monday at Bharat Adhyayan Kendra with public participation.The theme of this year’s Yoga Mahotsav was ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing (Swasth evam Sakriya Vriddhavastha ke liye Yoga).”Coordinator, Bharat Adhyayan Kendra, Prof Sharadindu Kumar Tiwari, said that yoga is an invaluable heritage of the Indian knowledge tradition, which is the foundation of the holistic development of the individual, society and nation. He called upon all to actively participate in making International Day of Yoga successful as a mass movement.BHU vice-chancellor, Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi urged students, teachers, research scholars and citizens to make regular yoga practice an integral part of their routine.Dean, faculty of Arts, Kashi Hindu Vishwavidyalaya, Prof Sushma Ghildiyal, said that yoga is a powerful medium for mental, intellectual and moral development along with physical health. She asked youth to adopt yoga for a stress-free, disciplined and value-based life.
