Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday formally resigned as Karnataka chief minister, marking a major leadership transition in the state. Shortly after submitting his resignation, Siddaramaiah told reporters, “I have submitted my resignation at Lok Bhavan. The governor is not at his office.”
“The governor is not present in town. Hence, I submitted my resignation to his office. I gave my resignation letter to the Governor’s secretary,” he added.
Siddaramaiah said he had repeatedly maintained that he would step down whenever directed by the Congress high command, and added that his resignation came in line with the party leadership’s instructions.
