The police subsequently instructed the operators to install CCTV cameras, strictly follow traffic rules, and ensure that buses stop only at designated bus stops. The police instructed the bus operators to paste awareness posters in the buses listing the Shivamogga district police’s “Public Eye” app, the Shivamogga Traffic Police helpline, and the police emergency helpline (112).
The posters will make it easier for the passengers to lodge complaints if bus drivers or conductors behave inappropriately, use mobile phones while driving, play vulgar songs loudly, or engage in any other objectionable conduct, the officers stated.
