Rowdy-sheeter among two held for brandishing sword in Ullal

Mangaluru: Ullal police arrested two men, including a rowdy-sheeter, for allegedly creating a ruckus and brandishing a sword in public at Thokkottu. City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH identified the accused as Mohammed Shakir, 31, a welder and resident of Margathale, and Ashpak, 28, an autorickshaw driver from Machila in Ullal.Shakir is said to have arrived at Thokkottu in an autorickshaw driven by Ashpak. Shakir, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, brandished a sword, created a disturbance and threatened members of the public. A video of the incident has been circulating on social media.A case been registered under the Arms Act and other relevant sections.Engineer found deadA 24-year-old automobile engineer employed in Dubai was found dead in a hotel room at Maravoor in Bajpe police station limits. The deceased is Arjun, a native of Kasaragod. His sister, an NEET aspirant, had allegedly died by suicide at a private hostel in Kerala in June this year.In a brief note, found at the scene, Arjun has apologised to his mother, and requested her to inform some of his friends, sources said.Bajpe police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, the police commissioner said.
