Amid speculation about a merger between Trinamool Congress and the Congress after Mamata Banerjee met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, rebel TMC MLA Ritabrata Banerjee said there was no question of merger with the grand old party. Ritabrata Banerjee, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, stated that the rebel bloc enjoys the support of sixty-four legislators and twenty members of parliament and there was no question of merger with Congress. He clarified that their members of parliament in the Lok Sabha will support the National Democratic Alliance.
