Public money being looted, inflation hurting people: Shivpal

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party national general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP govts at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, describing them as a “bundle of lies” and alleging large-scale misuse of public funds. He was addressing a gathering in Ratanpur village of Mehewa block after inaugurating a park and unveiling a statue of Ahilyabai Holkar. “The BJP govts at the Centre and in the state are built on false promises. Public money is being looted, and due to the commission system, people are not receiving the benefits of MLA funds. Inflation has burdened the common man, and the BJP regime has created a situation akin to an undeclared Emergency,” Yadav said, claiming that people had made up their minds to remove the BJP from power.Calling the gathering a show of strength for the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) alliance, Yadav accused the state government of failing to provide adequate electricity despite promises of round-the-clock supply. He alleged that residents were receiving less than eight hours of power in many areas while electricity tariffs continued to rise. The SP leader further claimed that farmers were struggling to obtain seeds, fertilisers and irrigation water. He warned that officials allegedly harassing the public would be held accountable if the SP returned to power. He also accused the government of burdening people with repeated taxes under the GST regime.During the event, Yadav asked supporters to raise their hands and pledge to oust the BJP government in the 2027 assembly elections.Speaking to reporters later, he reiterated his charge that the BJP govt had imposed an “undeclared Emergency,” alleging irregularities in budget spending, recurring examination paper leaks and soaring cooking gas prices.
