Patna: Patna’s proposed Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township will have a major sports hub spread across 651 acres, with plans for a Sports City, an 187-acre golf course and a 239-acre modern sports complex. The proposed facilities are aimed at providing Bihar with world-class infrastructure for training athletes and hosting national and international competitions.A meeting to discuss the development of sports infrastructure in the township was held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of urban development and housing minister Nitish Mishra. Sports minister Shreyasi Singh also attended the meeting, where officials discussed the proposed Sports City and other sporting facilities planned for the greenfield township.Mishra said the govt was focusing on creating modern sports infrastructure to help Bihar’s youth develop their talent and compete at national and international levels. “Patliputra township will become a centre of world-class sports facilities,” he said, adding that the initiative was part of efforts to provide athletes with better facilities for training, practice and competition.According to the integrated plan for the township, around 225 acres will be earmarked for the Sports City, while 187 acres will be developed as a golf course and another 239 acres as a modern sports complex.The proposed Sports City will include advanced facilities for different sporting disciplines, along with infrastructure required for training and competitions. The sports complex will provide facilities for a wide range of sporting activities, giving residents as well as athletes access to modern amenities.Sports minister Shreyasi Singh said the township should be developed as a future-ready urban centre equipped not only with modern civic facilities but also with high-quality sports infrastructure. She said the proposed facilities would be developed in line with Olympic standards, enabling Bihar to host national and international sporting events and providing its athletes with opportunities for world-class training and competition.Shreyasi also said land required for sports facilities would be identified in all 12 proposed townships across the state. The objective is to ensure that each township has adequate and quality sports infrastructure, she added.The meeting was attended by UDHD principal secretary Vinay Kumar; sports department secretary Deepak Anand; sports department director Arif Ahsan; UDHD additional secretary Manoj Kumar and other senior officials.
