Gurgaon: A 45-year-old man died after being run over by a private bus near the entry gate of the Sector 12 bus stand on Sunday evening. Police arrested the driver, who was later released on bail.The victim, Deepak, was a resident of Bakshi Nagar in Hisar and worked as a taxi driver. He had come to Gurgaon on July 19 for some work, according to a complaint lodged by his son, Abhishek.Police said they received information from the control room around 6pm on Sunday that a man had been run over by a bus near the bus stand entrance. A team from Sector 14 police station reached the spot and found the victim lying on the road beside the bus.Police said the front tyre of the bus had run over the victim’s head, causing fatal injuries. He died at the spot. The bus was operating on the Pataudi-Gurgaon route, an officer said, adding that the accused, Vinod Kumar, a resident of Farrukhnagar, was arrested at the spot.Documents recovered from the victim’s wallet helped police establish his identity and inform his family in Hisar. “The crime scene and bus were photographed, and the body was shifted to the mortuary after completing the required medico-legal formalities,” a police officer said.After reaching Gurgaon, the victim’s family identified the body and submitted a complaint alleging that the bus driver was driving rashly and negligently, causing the fatal accident.Based on the complaint and evidence collected from the scene, police registered an FIR at Sector 14 police station under sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS.
