Patna: Hundreds of aspirants appearing for the Bihar Police recruitment examination created chaos on trains across the state on Tuesday evening. They allegedly forced their way into reserved coaches and damaged railway property, causing severe inconvenience to regular passengers.Railway sources said a large number of aspirants allegedly stormed into an air-conditioned coach of the Hatia-Purnia Court Kosi Express (18626) at different places on the Gaya-Patna route in Danapur division under the East Central Railway (ECR) on Tuesday evening. During the commotion, aspirants allegedly damaged window panes of the B-4 coach. Passengers travelling with valid reservations complained of harassment as the aspirants occupied their seats and overcrowded the coach, making the journey difficult and uncomfortable, they said.Railway officials said the damaged coach was attended to after the train reached Rajendra Nagar Terminal. Railway staff removed the shattered window panes and carried out necessary repairs to ensure passenger safety. Railway personnel also cleared unauthorised passengers from the reserved coaches, sources added.A similar situation was witnessed on the Bhabua Road-Patna Intercity Express (13244) heading towards Patna, where examination aspirants allegedly occupied reserved coaches. Passengers faced considerable inconvenience due to overcrowding and incidents of alarm chain pulling (ACP), which disrupted the train’s schedule and affected normal operations, sources said.Railway authorities expressed concern over the incidents and appealed to aspirants to maintain discipline while travelling. Special trains had been arranged to accommodate the large number of examinees, but overcrowding continued on several regular train services, Patna RPF sources said.In addition, security personnel were directed to maintain strict vigil at stations and aboard trains during the examination period to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.The Bihar Police recruitment examination has led to an unprecedented rush of candidates across the state, prompting the railways to operate several special trains to manage passenger traffic. Despite these measures, incidents of overcrowding and disorderly behaviour were reported from multiple locations under the ECR jurisdiction, sources said.
