Gold, cash, land documents seized from the accused in Nalgonda family murder case

Hyderabad: Nalgonda police arrested four accused in connection with the recent murder of four members of a family. Two of the victims were close relatives of the deceased family.On June 22 night, decomposed bodies of the victims, Md Sultan, 45, a bag shop worker, his wife Haseena, 40, a private school teacher, their children, Muzammil, 20, an AC technician, and Afsura, 12, a Class VII student, were found at their locked house in Telangana Colony, Nalgonda, after neighbours alerted police about foul smell emanating from the house.Postmortem examination revealed that the victims had multiple injuries from a sharp-edged weapon and a murder case was registered at Nalgonda I Town PS.After a detailed probe, police arrested Haseena’s niece Tabassum, 28, a homemaker, her husband, Syed Aslam, 28, a car driver, from Gandipet, his friend, Mohammed Sohail, 26, from Gandipet, and a jeweller, Hemanth Kumar, 28, from Saroornagar, near the Narkatpally flyover on Friday.According to Nalgonda SP Sharath Chandra Pawar, investigation revealed that Tabassum and her husband Aslam were facing financial hardships and they also had a long-standing personal grudge against Haseena.Aslam previously borrowed ₹1 lakh from Haseena and was paying interest for the same. Tabassum became pregnant recently and Aslam wanted to buy a new car for taxi business. When he approached Haseena for a fresh loan, she denied it, referring to the pending loan, and also asked him to repay the borrowed amount immediately.“Haseena’s humiliating refusal, coupled with their financial difficulties, fuelled a murder conspiracy. Before committing the murder, Aslam searched how to commit a murder and escape on YouTube,” the SP said.Learning that Haseena kept gold and cash at home, on June 19, Aslam drove to Nalgonda. He called Sultan, saying that he was in Nalgonda and would visit them in the night. As Sultan did not respond to his calls later, Aslam scaled the compound wall and waited till the early hours on the premises.At 5 am on June 20, when Haseena opened the door for morning chores, Aslam attacked her with a knife and killed her. Subsequently, he attacked Sultan and killed him too. Hearing the noise, Muzammil came out with a rod and tried to retaliate. Aslam suffered injuries to his feet and a finger in the attack, but he managed to kill Muzammil also by stabbing him multiple times. Later, he went into the bedroom and dragged the 12-year-old, who was hiding under the bed, and killed her by stabbing her in the throat to eliminate witnesses, the SP said.After killing the family, Aslam stole five tola gold jewellery and land documents from the almairah in the bedroom. With the help of Sohail, Aslam mortgaged the gold with Hemanth Kumar and obtained ₹5.3 lakh.On their confession, police recovered a car, ₹3 lakh cash, a knife used in the murder, three mobile phones, five tola gold and land documents.
