Howrah: A 36-year-old pharmacist, Hasanur Mir, who was working at a private hospital in Andul, was murdered on Sunday in the Bankra Rasikpur area under Domjur police station of Howrah City Police.His brothers, Najimul Mir, 32, and Najrul Mir, 27, sustained critical wounds in a knife attack. They are undergoing treatment at Howrah District Hospital. Unknown miscreants pelted stones and bricks at buildings late at night. The sudden stone-pelting shattered window panes and injured several locals, giving rise to rumours of a “ghost” haunting the area. Late last night, Hasanur, along with his friends, ventured out to find out the source.

They caught local TMC leader Sheikh Guddu, 50, and his aides throwing stones from an under-construction building. When Hasanur and his friends raised an alarm, Guddu and his aides fled. Hasanur, his brothers and locals confronted Guddu, who allegedly pulled out a large knife and attacked Hasanur.
