Bhubaneswar: First-year classes for postgraduate (PG) courses offered by degree colleges and state public universities for 2026-27 academic session will begin on Aug 21, higher education department said on Monday, while announcing the timeline for e-admissions.According to the notification, candidates can update their graduation or equivalent marks, and lock their institution choices between July 27 and Aug 2. The provisional allotment list for the first round of admissions will be published at 4pm on Aug 7. Students allotted seats can pay admission fees online between Aug 7 and 11.Applicants selected in the first round must report to their allotted institutions for admission between Aug 8 and 11, excluding holidays. Institutions will simultaneously update admission data on SAMS portal, the notification said.The second and final round allotment list will be released at 4pm on Aug 17. Candidates accepting the seats can complete the online admission process and pay fees between Aug 17 and 20. Physical reporting at the institutions for the second round will be held from Aug 18 to 20.For seats remaining vacant after the two rounds, a waiting/spot selection round has been scheduled. The list of applicants on waitlist will be published on Aug 25. Interested candidates can submit documents at their respective higher education institutions on Aug 28 and 29, while merit lists of eligible students will be published on Aug 31. Final admission of the students on the waitlist is scheduled for Sept 1 and 2.The department said the Phase 2 admission process will be conducted, subject to the vacancies.
