Patriotic fervour peaks at Tiranga Yatra
Students take part in a Tiranga Yatra in Kashi on Thursday

Varanasi: A grand Tiranga Yatra was organised in the city on Thursday as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.The yatra began from the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith campus and passed through Maldahiya and Lahurabir crossings before concluding at Dr Sampurnanand Sanskrit University.Led by UP minister, Swatantra Dev Singh, the procession witnessed participation from schoolchildren, youth, local residents and people from different sections of society. Participants carried the national flag, while PAC and police bands played patriotic tunes. Slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ echoed along the route.Addressing the gathering, Singh said the tricolour symbolises India’s identity, pride, strength and resolve. He said it reminds citizens of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and soldiers safeguarding the country’s borders. The minister urged young people to align their aspirations, careers and hard work with nation-building and contribute towards building a developed, prosperous and self-reliant India. Among those present were district panchayat president Poonam Maurya, mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari, MLC Dharmendra Singh, MLAs Saurabh Srivastava, Neelkanth Tiwari, Awadhesh Singh, Sunil Kumar Patel and T. Ram, divisional commissioner S. Rajalingam, police commissioner Mohit Agarwal, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar, additional police commissioner Shiv Hari Meena, chief development officer Prakhar Kumar Singh and other dignitaries.
